The bill (Reg. No. 5208) amends Clause 17 of the Law "On the Political Parties of Ukraine", stating that the political parties shall annually, not later than April 1, publish their financial statements and property reports in the national mass media "Holos Ukrainy" or "Uriadovyi Kurier" newspapers. The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine shall monitor the publication.
The bill also supplements the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements with Clause 212-12, establishing administrative responsibility for the non-publication, untimely publication, partial publication and\or publication of invalid annual financial statement and property report.
The Committee members supported the bill and stated: "Clear-cut regulation of publication of financial and property reports of the political parties, establishment of responsibility and state monitoring over the publication of reports will allow the state to control the financial sources of the political parties and institute proceedings against the infringers."
